Can't see any divx codecs to build a template

Post by meinthecorner »

Hi - I've just upgraded from v10 to v11 and applied various packs and patches etc to get everything up to date.

I've looked everywhere for a solution, but cant find anything.

I was trying to create a Template for divx output, so I've gone to [make movie template manager] selected [new] given it a name and regardless of the File Format, i.e, avi, mpg, mp4 I can no longer select Divx in the compression settings.

All I have is

DV-Video Encoder Type 1
DV-Video Encoder Type 2
MJPEG Compressor.

Has the option been moved? Or am I just being a clutts?

I just checked and the DivX codec had disappeared from my versions of VS. Just reinstall DivX, and then it will be available.

Curious. I just checked in my VS11.5 and DivX 6.7 is there as an .avi codec, even though it was installed well before I updated VS...

Ken,
I think what may have wiped it from mine, is installing VS9. I installed it a couple of days ago to help someone. I know prior to that, I also had the DivX options.

Thanks for the reply's.

I've downloaded the latest divx pack, reinstalled, restarted the pc and then opened VS and the codec didnt appear.

I then uninstalled divx pack, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, tried VS and the codec wasnt there.

Sooo I uninstalled VS, rebooted, reisnstalled, rebooted, applied the patch i have, rebooted, and DIVX still wasn't available.

Any idea's

Thought I'd see if other Video based software had trouble seeing the codecs, sure enough Virtualdub couldn't see them or any other codec either.

So I had a little comparison between my Laptop and desktop so I could see what codecs each could see via Media Player 11, Help Menu, Tech Support link.

Upon looking my Desktop with this problem wasn't showing any off the codecs shown below in Green, all the ICM type ones. Don't have a clue what ICM means.

So I uninstalled VS11+ again, rebooted and then used the Vista System Restore function to roll back to before the 1st Install of VS11+.

Once rolled back, I then re-installed VS11+ applied the UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack followed by UVS11_Patch_Eng

And the codec options are back \o/
