Re-installing a Downloaded Version of VS11+
I bought VideoStudio11Plus as a download. Now I want to install it onto my new computer and I can't figure out how. I copied all the folder contents from "Program Files" of my old computer to my new computer (which has Vista), but obviously it doesn't auto-install like a CD program would. I've "explored" the folder's endless contents and nowhere can I find an installation or setup icon. Anyone know what I should do?

How did you install it on your old computer? It would be no different for your new one.oblivion2076 wrote:I bought VideoStudio11Plus as a download. Now I want to install it onto my new computer and I can't figure out how.
The last OS that allowed the "Drag-and-Drop" install was Windows 3.0. You will need to delete the folders you copied, as your OS does not know they are there. When a program is installed, the installer places files all over the place.
You will need the files you downloaded when you purchased VS. I know when you purchased the ESD (download version) there were instructions on burning those files to disc, so that you would have them in the event of a computer crash, or the need to reformat. If you didn't do that, then I hope you have proof of purchase, ie; the confirmation email sent to you by Corel. You need to contact Corel Customer Service, to see if you can get another download link.

Geez, I really can't remember. I thought maybe it automatically installed after I clicked on "open" when the download was complete, but I may be mistaken.
I do have the original proof of purchase through email, so I guess that's good. I'd rather find another way around this, though. I still have that prehistoric dial-up so it'll take me forever to download nearly 200 MB.
Thanks for your reply.

In reading your first post, I understood that you just copied and pasted the files from the Program Files directory of your old PC to the Program Files of your new PC. Since Win95 you can not do that.
If you have the original downloaded installation file (uvs11_plus_9(e).exe), then it should install from that file. Make sure that you are installing from an Administrator account, or select from the right-click menu, run as Administrator. You will also need to install the content files (uvs11_plus_contentpack_(e).exe.
If you can not get the program to install clicking on the install file, you might try using WinZip, ZipGenius or WinRar, to unpack the install file. Then locate and run the Setup.exe.
