File not accessible (H.264)
Moviefactory 6.10.0194.6 running on Vista.
Installed:
dmf6_fullhd_e.exe (reads 6.00...)
DMF6_Full_Patch2_E.exe
dmf6_hdpack_e.exe
Tried installing with and without dmf6_patch_supportavchd.exe
I am trying to create an AVCHD disk. I would like to import H.264 files to go on the disk without having to transcode every time. So far everything I've tried either transcodes or else I get an error message when I try to add the video file.
I can add mpeg2 .m2ts files, but I cannot import H.264 .m2ts files. Even the files out of the AVCHD stream folder cannot be imported. I have seen two errors, "is not accessible" or a "contains no video data". The first error is the most common and the second error has happened when trying to use .m2ts files from other software. The only H.264 file that I can get the program to accept is .mov, but it also transcodes that video.
I tried using the export option like described in http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 726#136726 but when I go to bring the video into MF6+ I again get the first error. All the AVC that MF6+ will not add are able to play in Nero Showtime as AVC.
The "Do not convert..." check doesn't seem to do anything for me with .mov files and I can't seem to get MF6+ to load any other AVC files. Right now I'm really frustrated with the progam after reading how other people can get it to import AVC video but all I get are error messages or .mov files that it wants to transcode. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some specific order I should be installing the program in? Might it work correclty if I was to install XP? I have no idea what the problem is with AVC, and the 30 day return gurantee is almost up.

alluringreality,
I prefer Vista over XP working with AVCHD.
First, if you insert a MOV file it has to be converted. All mov files for any disc media format need to be converted, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray (avchd is also one of the blu-ray formats).
There is obviously something wrong here.
You should be able to insert M2T, MTS or M2TS H264 video files.
Find on this forum how to completely un-install MF6+.
Install your original download, reboot.
Install Patch# 2, reboot
Install the HD-Add-On Pack, reboot
Do you have any other ulead products installed?
After you un-install MF6+ make sure there is no C:\Program files\common files\Ulead Systems directory on the harddisk.
When MF6+ installs it will recreate this directory with the correct files.

My data files and OS are on different hard drives, so I used True Image 10 and took Vista back to an install before I ever put on any Ulead programs. Then I installed according to the order listed, including the restarts. I still get the "file not accessible" when I try adding m2ts from the AVCHD streams folder or the exported file.
I also tried installing on my 4 year old laptop (Amd XP-M and XP SP1) which isn't up to MF6+ specs. It installed slowly but seems to work until I try bringing in the m2ts files. On the XP laptop it just crashes the program with those .m2ts files and doesn't give the error message.
The AVCHD disk m2ts plays on the BDP-S1, the PS3, and the Nero video software so I don't think there's anything wrong with the video. The only thing I can think of is to try re-downloading all three of the install files. Why Ulead doesn't have download links to the updated version without having to use the patch I find entirely confusing. I could try installing on the computer at work because it's up to MF6+ specs, but otherwise re-downloading is the only thing else I can think to try. If other people can import AVC files then I figure it has to be hardware or software issues with this computer. Anyone have any other ideas for possible things to try?

Where are these files originally being encoded from?
How were these avc/h264 videos created?
Did they come from an AVCHD consumer camcorder? Or did you create them using other software etc.
Videos created AVCHD camcorders is compatible and will load into MF6+
So where did you get these files that will not load? They may not be compliant, you may have tried to insert a menu m2ts file from the streams folder. What program created this avchd.m2ts video that lies in the STREAMS folder.

The AVCHD streams file is from the disk created by MF6+ when the AVCHD option was selected. The disk plays an an AVCHD on the PS3 and my BDP-S1. All of the other files in the streams folder are under 2 meg and the 00000.m2ts is 158 meg. The AVCHD was created by allowing MF6+ to transcode mpeg2 video to create the AVCHD disk. The other file I was trying to add was the file exported from MF6+ by following the linked directions in the original post. I believe that exported file was AVC because I was using the Nero trial and it showed up that way in the player.
I can load those files back into MF6+.
The 00000.m2ts is the first main movie file.
Sounds like a pretty short video for being under 200megs.
The other smaller files are the menus. You can't load them.
Nero sometimes says "Unknown" codec.
I'm assuming that you simply copied the video back to your harddisk.
You may want to try this, put the dvd into your drive & use MF6+ Import dvd/-vr avchd function. That should work I hope.
I'm wondering if another codec on the system is interfering with MF6+ to read this format.
Not sure, see if you can import the avchd video using the import feature.
If it works the video will be imported into a folder called "Capture" that resides on your harddisk directly below your "Assigned Working Folder". The "Assigned Working Folder" is done under "Preferences" (F6 Hotkey).
Also are you sure you installed Patch#2 that was released 8/30/2007 126 Megs http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf_ftp.htm#patch2
I don't bother with the first patch dated 4/26/2007
After installing patch# 2 was when I could insert the video directly into the timeline.
The import feature should work, unless something else on the computer is causing a conflict.

I installed the program on a third computer and it functions the same. I cannot bring in AVCHD m2ts files. I can bring in BDMV m2ts files. Maybe it has to do with how our original mpeg2 files have no audio. It still doesn't make sense why the mpeg2 m2ts would work and the AVC m2ts fails. I guess tonight I can let it transcode an ATSC recording to AVC and try again, but otherwise I don't have any ideas why I've read two people say AVC m2ts files work and all I get are error messages.

Identical AVCHD export/import problem.
Have you folks found out the fix if any for this problem ?
I can add that when one exports a Blu-ray video file from DVD MF6+ it CAN and does import back into an AVCHD project. If one tries to import an AVCHD video into either a Blu-ray OR AVCHD project, the error is identical : "file is not accessible". What poor quality control !
