no sound in newly created .m2t file

I've been trying vs11.5 with a couple of *.m2ts files i downloaded. The simplest timeline is a 5 seconds m2ts file and an mp3 file added to the music track. I can export it as an AVI or WMV file and it works fine.

However, when the timeline is exported as *.m2t / *.mpg (using the "create video file > AVCHD > H.264" both resolutions), the resulting *.m2t doesn't have any sound.

I've tried exporting both as *.m2t and *.mpg and I've tried media player classic, VLC player and WMP to play them but can't get any sound. Any ideas? Thanks.
