Odd behaviour in chapter menus

Post by Svuppe »

Hi.
I have noticed something odd in the chapter menus of a created DVD. I just saw this nice drawing in another thread, and I guess it helps me explain my problem:

Image

Imagine I have created a DVD like this one. When I play it, and I enter the chapter menu for the second title, there are 4 chapters. That is all fine. But there is also the standard play button. If I now click that one, what would you expect to happen?
As I have entered a chapter page for title 2, I would expect title 2 to begin playback from the first chapter. But no, I get title 1 instead.

No matter now many titles and chapters I combine. The play button of every chapter page of every title ALWAYS plays title 1.
Am I the only one with this problem? I don't think I've seen this mentioned here before.

This is real odd behavior, which is different then what DVDMF6+ does. I started to reply about 10 mins ago, then thought about testing what my response was going to entail. Glad I did..;)

In DVDMF6+ the arrow (play) button, plays that Title from the start. I knew it was a Play-from-start, but was thinking it started from the beginning of the DVD, or Titlte-1, which is what you're describing.

In VS11+, that arrow button on a Chapter menu, does like you stated, starts at the beginning, or Title-1, instead of the Chapter menu it is on.

Since DVDMF6+ and VS11+'s DVD module are very much alike, it makes me think that this behavior in VS is a "bug". If not then is the behavior in DVDMF6+ a "bug"?

I always hide the arrow button on my chapter menus anyway. I figure if someone brings up the chapter menu, they're wanting a specific place in that video, so why have it play from the start...;)

Hey. There was the easy way out :D
You are absolutely right. I never thought of removing the button from the chapter menus. I am still "thinking" in VS9 functionality, where I believe editing the menu templates wasn't an option.
I will remove the button as well from now on. Thanks a lot.

I'm having the same problem, couldn't figure out why it always played title 1.

Anyway, I have a question then. How do you play title 1 (or title 2) from the start without entering the chapter menu? If i click on title 1 or 2, it will enter the chapter menu and the only way i can get it to play from the start is to click on the first chapter.

Thanks for your help

I forgot to add,,,,

Also is there any way that I can get a sound to play when you click the play button?

Thanks

The play button is VS is a "play all" type. It means that wherever you are in a menu, if you hit that button it will play all titles starting at title 1.
