Trivial Question

Post by bgm1961 »

Here's a trivial question... not worth anyone's time to answer, but my curiosity curiosly grows each time I start MSP8... has anyone else noticed that the splash screen used to be color, but is now black and white since Service Pack 1?

Immediately after installing service pack 1, I noticed the splash screen (file: "splash screen.bmp") is now B&W. I just find that curious- that's all.

Hmmm... odd... I noticed the B&W immediately after installing SP1.
The bmp file even displays as B&W when I open it in any of my image applications.

Thanks for the reply, though!

Must have something to do with your video card. Mine is still in color.

I appreciate the thought, but it's not my video card. The file used for the splash screen resides in the root MSP8 folder, and it's called, "SplashScreen.Bmp". And mine is black and white.

No matter which program or application I use to view it, it's always B&W. Before installing SP1, that same file was in color. Now it's not. I'm pretty handy with Photoshop, and there's no color to be squeezed out of it.

Just seems strange to me, that's all.

If any one would be interested in emailing me their color copy of "SplashScreen.Bmp", I would be obliged. It's kind of weird that I'm even making a case of this, but each time I start MSP8, I see the B&W image of the Cheetah running from behind the video camera, and I miss the color version. I keep thinking my program DESERVES BETTER than a B&W splash screen!

Thanks for your patience,
Barry

What's the file's "Date modified" attribute? Is there any possibility you've turned it monochrome during a batch process gone wrong? Are "Aboutbox.bmp" "clogo1.bmp" and "clogo2.bmp" also monochrome?
