Audio Filters in MSP8

Post by Keith »

Hi All

I'm having problems with Audio Filters. I can add them to a clip and even preview them but as soon as they are on the time line they do not work - the audio filter icon does show in the clip.

Thanks

Does this occur using any filter, or just one specific filter? If the latter, which one?
What type of clip are you applying the filter to? It is a video clip or just an audio, and if just audio, what format, wav, mp3? If mp3, try converting if possible to wav format.

With the filter are you making any changes that should be real noticeable, or subtle? Do you have any other audio playing at the same time, such as background music on another track, when you've applied the filter to say the audio portion of your video? Sometimes a filter may be subtle enough that other sound/music played at the same time will cover the filter effect.

Try playing the audio, where you have applied the filter, solo. Is the filter noticeable now?

Hi Vidoman

They are mpeg.

There is no noticeable change after applying any filter (I have tried several to see if any of them work)

You can hear the effect in the filter preview but once on the time line - nothing.

There are no other audio track playing at the same time

Hi Keith
Are you playing back your clip from the preview window or the source window? If I recall correctly, the source window plays its clips as captured so I think you need to play the clip in preview to see your movie with filters, etc, applied.
Thanks & regards.

Gra's correct. If you play them in Source window, it will not have the filters applied. Preview does.

If that does not work I have zipped up the folder aft_plug, and can send it to you to see if that may correct it. But I suspect that Gra's solution will. ;)

To get the audio filters working you need to check "apply audio filter while playing" in the Audio Mixing Panel.
