Currently using VS 8 demo... upgrade to 9?

Post by WaxonWaxov »

Hello all,

I'm currently in day 15 of my 30 day trial of VS 8.

If I want to go to VS9 should I...

1) Buy VS8 then upgrade
2) Uninstall VS8 and install a "fresh" install of VS 9?

or does VS 9 suck too bad to bother?

.....is always the best way with any applications. Unless your going to save some money it's not worth it. For example the win98 upgrade was notoriously bad compared to full win98 install.

I can't comment on which is better comparing the two versions.

VS9 has more to offer then VS8 that are very useful (read the improvements on Uleads web).

I didn't uninstall VS8 (due to previous updates) and VS9 has been working fine. Let me stress I haven't had the chance to use all the bells and whisles or completed a project as of yet.

I'm not sure "suck" is a proper phrase. There were some bugs in VS8 and prior versions and I'm sure they'll be bugs in VS9, but the overall I've been very happy with Ulead Video Editing for the last 15 months.

I do agree. Ulead makes great programs. But as with all programs once in a while bugs show up. Do not expect different with other products. I came from Pinnacle which I left crying because the only thing it did was crashing my pc. Never could finish one project after weeks of pain in the ***.

Ulead makes a much better product which works very clean. Don't forget that we're al working with pc's and parts of different manufacturers and different settings. And different quality. So it's a hell of a job to get things done with video-editing.

It's a pity that their support department isn't of much value. The advice they mostly give is: "Reinstall". And most of the time that doesn't help.

   My first video experience ever was to click on the Pinnacle icon only to have it promptly crash... 3 times. Needless to say that was it for Pinnacle.
