I used to use VS8 under WinXP Prof (Traditional Chinese version) and always followed the rule that to create the video file before burning the project onto DVD, it worked fine.
Now I am using Vista (Traditional Chinese) on a SONY VAIO, VS8 doesn't work at all so I bought VS11.0.0157.0 Plus (Traditional Chinese version).
I have created a project of size about 33 minutes comprising videos, music, pictures, sound effects, titles, and transition items. All pictures have been converted from original size to 800 x 640 pixels. The .vsp project file is of size 210 KB. This is the first project I created by using VS11.
When I tried to output the project to a single video file, VS11 hang (No Response).
Project settings:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG format
24 bit, 720 x 576, 25fps
Low Frame
(DVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate Var (Max 6000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
Both C: and D: drives have around 25 GB free space left. For the configuration of my notebook, please see my signature.
Anything to do with Vista or anything I can do to rectify?
VS11 (under Vista Business) hangs when producing video file

Possibly you have a corrupted Video file or sound file.
What are the sources of those items, file types eg. DV or MPEG2 etc.
MP3 or WAV etc. some users have had issues with MP3 sound files and the work round is to convert them to WAV with an audio editor such as Audacity.
Some video file types that worked with XP are no longer supported by the Vista Operating system Video for Windows (VFW) is not supported in Vista, VFW codecs such as Indeo, Cinepak are not supported in Vista.
Not sure if the recent patches and upgrade to VS11.5+ will work with the Chinese version but you can give it a shot.

I am new to this so take my advice with a grain of salt. The first thing you might try is downloading the Update Pack available here:

Good luck!

Thanks sjj1805,
"Possibly you have a corrupted Video file or sound file."
OK, I will check it out by eliminating.
¡§What are the sources of those items, file types eg. DV or MPEG2 etc.¡¨
Video files are all .mpg, music files are all .mp3, pictures are all .jpg.
¡§MP3 or WAV etc. some users have had issues with MP3 sound files and he work round is to convert them to WAV with an audio editor such as Audacity.¡¨
Will try to delete all .mp3 files and see if .mp3 files had given me problems here.
¡§Some video file types that worked with XP are no longer supported by the Vista Operating system Video for Windows (VFW) is not supported in Vista, VFW codecs such as Indeo, Cinepak are not supported in Vista.¡¨
Noted with thanks.
¡§Not sure if the recent patches and upgrade to VS11.5+ will work with the Chinese version but you can give it a shot.¡¨
Will search for appropriate version, thanks.
Thanks again.

I assumed it worked with the Chinese version after reading the specs:
Issues resolved:
Playing H.264/mp4 file in a project sometimes caused a malfunction.
After deleting a clip from a project, selecting ¡§Create Disc¡¨ would sometimes cause a malfunction .
Inserting a video with a long file name will cause the program to close.
Sometimes when attempting to render a large AVI file to NTSC 720x480 with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio will result in a malfunction.
After capturing from Sony HC-7, switching to "Edit" step will sometimes cause a malfunction.
Sometimes writing back to the Sony HC-7 will fail.
Sometimes importing folders from the AVCHD SR-7 camcorder will cause a malfunction.
Sometimes in the ¡§Create video file¡¨ step, when image pan & zoom is applied, a message ¡§Failed to encode the video¡¨ will appear.
Sometimes when creating an HD DVD clip in PAL or NTSC, a message ¡§Failed to encode the video¡¨ will appear.
When Overlay Options are applied, sometimes the ¡§Split audio¡¨ button will not function.
During video capture, scene names will be incorrect for scenes over 100 in number.
Sometimes a ¡§Capture failed¡¨ message will appear 10 sec after video capture starts.
When Overlay Options are applied, sometimes the ¡§Split audio¡¨ button will not function.
Input Japanese text would sometimes cause issues.
Input Italian text would sometimes cause issues.
Sometimes when generating proxy files, trimming and then burning to a disc will result in poor quality.
Sometimes SmartRendering will not work if the same file is created twice.
After converting .Mov format to H.264, the clip will exhibit flicker on playback.
In the Disc label box doesn¡¦t accept Chinese characters.
When importing clips from the Sony DCR-505, the date will automatically be added.
Aloha

Finally the issue has been resolved.
I did not change anything on the VS11 Project but dowloaded the patch (uvs11_patch_cht.exe where "cht" should stand for "Chinese Traditional") followed by applying it. After reboot of the machine, the rendering of video file worked fine.
Thanks to sjj1805 and SoldOnParadise.
