I can't seem to figure it out!

I make my selection, and try the transform tool, but the transform tool selects the base image, so i can't do it that way..

All I want to do is make an empty selection, and ROTATE it..

AFAIK, you can only move empty selections, not rotate them.

You might have a look at some of these tutorials from the real pros of PI..;)

Why do you want to rotate an empty selection I wonder  How did you create your selection?

Convert your selection to object and use the rotation tool. that works every time. An empty selection is just that, empty, nothing

if i make a selection to a picture, and converts it to an object, then rotate it, the part of the image i have applied the selection to, rotates with it, that's not what i want.

why i want to rotate a selection? what if i want to select something, ie a face, that is a wee bit tilted to the right, and apply an artistic effect to a portion of the face that, like the half, and i want straight edges.. the way i would've done that is to make a selection and rotate it so that the angle is correct with the angle of the tilted face..

im not very good explaining in english, but i hope you get it..

You didn't say what version of PI you are using. In PI12, use the transform tool and select 'Action on Selection', see below. Not sure about other PI versions.

Hope that helps.

Still learning PI, :), I never knew that you could rotate empty selections, just move them about. With that, you can not only rotate, but do perspective distortions, slants, and just distort them. :)

Thanks Ken..
