Side-by-side error

Post by drbob3 »

I just installed VideoStudio 11 Plus, and cannot start the application. I get an error message "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

During the install, the Visual C++ 2005 redistributable would not install. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Running Windows Vista.

Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely a faulty installation and you will need to follow this link
Re-Installation of Ulead Products

Before doing so however we need to ask ourselves what caused it to fail in the first place.
If you were installing from a CD then check that the disc is not fault by copy/pasting the files to a hard drive folder.
If you downloaded the files try downloading fresh copies.

I uninstalled VideoStudio, followed the instructions in that link, and tried reinstalling (from a freshly downloaded copy of the installer). During install, I get the error message "The installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable SP1 Package (x86) appears to have failed. Do you want to continue the installation?"

This time I selected No and aborted the install. Any ideas why Visual C++ package won't install?
