Just from memory I think you have to "downdate" Quicktime! No, really!
Uninstall Quicktime then re-install VS using that version of Quicktime that it installs then don't further update Quicktime.
Nuts...I know!

You may also want to check SmartSound.com for any updates they may have.

I would like to thank you guys for your replies and advice.

I done as advised and deleted the updated version of Quicktime and loaded the version that came with the disk and was amazed its worked,(no more crashing). Im now going to update Smartsound.

I got this app off the Mrs. as a present, but after spending the last 2 weeks pulling my hair out, I was begining to think she had set me up.

Once again thank you, regards, Colin.

For anyone who might be interested, SmartSound has currently got a 'special' on offer. If you buy 2 (or more) of their Strata series multilayer smartsound discs (at US$100 each -- not cheap), they will throw in SonicFire Pro 4.5 free. SonicFire is their full and professional end program which does a lot, lot more than the QuickTracks plug-in, and costs the same as the two discs normally. So while it is not cheap, it still seems a good deal.

Details are at http://www.smartsound.com/specials/free ... aign=sfpar

I hasten to add that I don't work for SmartSound either! Just that I think this is a very good adjunct tool for Video Studio and other video editing programs.

I don't work for Smartsound either and I echo Ken's comments.
Sonic Fire pro greatly enhances your video creation experience with powerful search facilities to find the right piece of music you are looking for to add to your video.

If the cost of 'proper' smartsound discs are too expensive then it will also take 'normal' music and sort of chop it up into blocks rather like a 'proper' smartsound track so that you can still get that piece of music to fit with a proper start - middle - ending.
