Hi,
is it legal to use former win dvd versions (here: v5) with an actual license of version 8 ?
i know, that it sounds strange (...why use an older version when you may use a newer one...), but in a larger rollout project we have to use version 5 because of some reasons.
thank you.
I don't know how you're going to do that? With most of Ulead / Intervideo (Corel), newer versions, upgrades, do not overwrite older versions. They are complete stand-alone programs, and can be on the system at the same time. So to use version 8 you need to provide the license key for that program. For version 5 you will need the license key for it. Version 5 should not accept the license key for your version 8.
However I could be wrong, as I don't use any of Intervideo''s products, except the freebies that may be included with Ulead's..
Well, we are in the planning phase for a coming rollout and i admit, i didn't thought about the differencies between the license keys of version 5 and 8.
In fact, because of the users we want to continue using v5. v5 is alrease in use on many pcs, and all users should have the same version.
The problem is, v5 is no more available, so the idea was, to legally continue using v5, to buy v8 licenses...
If there's no chance to use v5 with the key of v8, we'll have to look for another solution.
Is there a possibility to get an enterprise-version of v5 which works without a key, or all clients with the same key ? We are talking about more than 200 licenses in the first step, rising up to over 2000 ?
Thank you very much.
I don't know if Corel would be able to supply you with additional license keys for version 5. Intervideo was purchased by Corel. However I certainly would contact Corel Customer Service, and inquire about some special prices for
1. Ugrading your Version 5 to Version 8.
2. Volume Discounts for Version 8, if that's the way you need to proceed.
