VS9 Update Packs--What's in them?

Post by juliosoto »

K, now that I had my first 10 hour download for the first pack, I sat there watching it self install.. Of course, i had NO idea what to expect as there is no CONTENT INFO button to click on as stated on the smart download screen to see what the packs are all about.

I saw the first install go by so fast that I managed to pick up that it was putting stuff into a directory called Editing Style --(by the way, it totally cleared out all the projects icons I had already worked on and left a fresh 1 video 1 image link while forcing me to search all over the place for the projects I had worked on).

Well, I saw that editing style had some avi's, images, sounds.. etc.. I am Assuming that I would use this for overlays, and such, but want to make sure that there is not more places that they can be used, or were meant to be used.

So, before I put my dsl through another 10 hours of download for another update pack, just wondering for those who have done the required 50 hours or so of downloading, just what else is in them? more avi's and images and sounds? Do they come with a read me file at all, and most importantly....... WHAT DIRECTORIES are the New ITEMS being put in??
It would be nice to know where things are being put into so that one can browse through all the extra stuff and know exactly what to do with them.

Any souls out there that can shed some light into this? I would really appreciate it... but first off.. my congratulations to you for getting these dowloads done.. I was constatly checking on my computer for all these hours to make sure that the dowload was not interrupted, or that my antivirus did not kick in or that my firewall would cause trouble.. Normally I would shut them down..but... not for 10 hours for one download..

WHEW.. Long winded, but very curious what is in these packs, what directories are being created or added on.. and if indeed these simply are images that can be used in all aspects of VS..

Thanks Much!

Hi,

The content is worth it.

It jump starts one for a more satisfying editing experience.

Ah sounds promising..

Mike, Do you know the directories it is putting this extra content into.
I always presumed it was the samples directory, but with the addition of content to the editing styles directory, I am wondering if there are other directories being added or appended with new files.

Ready to really jumpstart the download now that I got direct ftp link, will be downloading them today...

OH, BTW... Do you know if you need the smart sound download if you already did it all in Version 8 (Fullsprektrum 22k) I don't know if they added anything new to it and based on my past experiences, this is a delicate install

Thanks for the info

I put this info into a reply on a similar question, but wanted to put it in my original post about what is in the extra content.

Basically after installing the extra packs and dvd bonus menu, I know have the following:

Under the directory Editing style:
Total of 20 Audio
Total of 46 Images / Overlays
Total of 38 Videos / Flash Animation
Some other items under the Style Folder

Under the directory Samples:
Sample file that opens a project that shows off some of the extra content and ideas

Total of 16 Audio (may be similar to the ones in the Editing style folder)
Total of 46 Items/Overlays in the Decoration Folder
Total of 15 In the Greeting Card Folder
Total of 46 in the Images Folder / Overlays + Pics
Total of 47 Videos/Flash animations in the Video Folder

That is pretty much my summary on what the packs have.
Of course, there probably is something I missed that other may add to this reply to help others decide and know what is in them.

Thanks
Julio
