Hello,
After installing iTunes, MF6 sometimes would load project files OK and at other times would not.
I un-installed iTunes, but the problem still occurred.
I decided to un-install and re-install MF6 but when I was prompted to restart the computer the system froze and I had to switch off the power.
When reconnected the power and switched on the computer the system gave me the option to boot in normal mode, last known good configuration and safe mode, only selecting safe mode took me forward and I selected system restore and restored the system to a tme before iTunes was installed.I then tried to launch MF6 and got the following messages:"An Error Occurred While Update Layer Window" followed by"Failed to Load the Resource Please Re-Install Ulead DVD MovieFactory" followed by "An Error Occurred While Getting the Launcher information". I tried to un-install MF6 in control panel Add/Remove programs and got the message "Error Reading Setup Initialization File"
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards, David

Hi David,
Have you managed to correct this? Sorry for the delay in replying..
Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->
will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.
Itunes is big taboo on my systems. Don't really like the current version of Quicktime. There have been problems with the current QT player conflicting with VS, so it may also cause problems with DVDMF.
Always back-up any and all critical data before doing any of this!!!
What it appears you need to do, is manually remove all traces of DVDMF from your system. The installer apparently corrupted when your system froze, and especially when you hit the power-off. While I've been real lucky in the times that I've hit the power button during a freeze, this can cause the system to mess up files.
Try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products. Part of that requires "hacking" the registry. Inside "regedit" do a search for MovieFactory 6. It should start finding all instances of it.
Also there are several places on your PC that has folders for DVDMF. For example;
You might also do a search of the Installshield files, located C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information. NOTE, the InstallShield Installation Information folder is a Hidden folder. You will need to make sure you can view Hidden files and Folders. To enable this, in Windows Explorer, go to Tools>Folder Options>View. Scroll down to where it says Hidden Files and Folders, and check the one to Show hidden files and folders.
Back to the Installshield.. I generally go through them with "Folders" panel enabled. Then once I click on the folder to open it, double-click on the setup.ini, not the setup.exe. The "ini" file will tell you what program it belongs to. If you locate the one for DVDMF6, then delete the whole folder.
Once that's done, you can try to reinstall DVDMF6. You're system should not even think that it once had the program installed.

I have long ago issued a complete ban on any of my family installing itunes on any of my computers. Whenever anyone in the past has done so I have had problems with my Video Editing Software and have had to spend ages carefully removing any trace of it.
If you really want itunes then set up a dual boot system and dedicate one system to Video Editing well away from itunes.

Thank you both for your replies.
Yes I have resolved the problem, I did this by following the procedure for manually un-installing MF6 for the second time, but after clicking "restart" and the system failing to respond, instead of switching off the power I waited approx 20mins, the system still had'nt rebooted so I switched off the power supply, thinking here we go again, however when I restarted the computer, windows started normally. I installed MF6+ and everything works OK.
