Hi,
so far I used WinDVD 6 with an external AC3/DTS decoder, to which I sent audio data in digital S/PDIF mode - this works perfectly. Now, I've bought a true 5.1 headphone (Teac HP-11-R with real 5.1 channels, not just an emulation) so that I can also watch movies with a reasonable volume after my girlfriend has gone sleeping. It doesn't have digital in, so I use the setting "analog soundcard" (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook) with the 5.1 option.
Nature of the problem
I don't get any voices from the center speaker. The voices can only be heard if I select "Listen on Headphones" instead of speakers. But then, it comes from front left and right, the center channel remains quiet. So this is not 5.1. If I use speakers, I don't hear the voices (only very very faint). I tried all kind of settings to no avail. I don't know about the rear channels, because those are more difficult to verify.
The headphone - soundcard combination works perfectly with VLC mediaplayer. There, the voices come from the center channel.
