Having succesfully updated to 11.5 (from VS8) and run a test DVD off I am very impressed with the results.
Mainly down to VS, and an updated laptop, not my editing I might add!
However I do have one question, which I have searched on but not found a total answer for.
Is there an easy way to just insert a black screen?
I want to start a film with a black screen, some inserted music and a title,
hold for a few seconds then put up a photo first before the fil starts for real?
Do I just record a video with the lens cap on and insert it?
Or is there something more clever?
p.s. Thanks to Ken for the suggestion on another post to someone to update DirectX to solve DVD authoring issues saved me a load of heartache!

There is a "drop down" list that usually shows "Video." Click the drop down and you will see "Color." Select a color (black) and drag it to the timeline. Once ther you can adjust its length the same way a any video clip.
To achieve a "fade up from black" just insert the crossfade transition between the color block and your first vid/image etc.
