No Multi-Channel possible???

Post by usergk »

Hi guys,
I hope my english is well enough:

I have just tried to archive a very good movie using the german version of DVD MovieFactory 6 Plus.

The source is a movie that contains more than one audio channel channels:
1x ac3 german
1x mp2 german
1x mp2 english.

Producing the DVD is no problem. Hovever, only the first audio channel is included. The only option I found so far is in the "video editing" section where I can add mutliple audio channels but only one after the other. So, when the source is a movie with a length of 90 minutes and with 3 audio channels the result is a movie of 3*90=270 minutes length whereas the last 180 minutes are only black video with the 2nd and the 3rd audio channel.

What am I doing wrong?

Please help

Your not doing anything wrong. Mf6+ only supports 1 channel of audio.

From what I can gather, you archived a movie. Since it had 3 audio channels, I presume it was a DVD. Why on earth did you use DVD MF to archive it? You should have just made a copy. That would preserve your 3 audio channels.

no, the source is not a dvd but a movie recorded from pay-tv.
I just wanted to use MF6 for building a nice menu ...

This is more of a "professional" feature that's included in more expensive DVD authoring programs.

DVD Workshop ($300 - $400 USD) can handle 8 language tracks, and 32 subtitle tracks. DVD Workshop Express ($200 USD) can handle 2 language tracks and 2 subtitle tracks. (Note that DVD Workshop is "getting old". It hasn't been updated in a couple of years. There is no Vista version, and it lags behind Movie Factory in several features.)

Some versions of DVD Lab ($100 - $250 USD) can handle multiple soundtracks, and I assume the high-end Adobe & Sony DVD authoring programs can do it too.
