Hey John, no need to shout.JOHN SANCHEZ wrote:IT WORKED BEFORE ON ANOTHER PROGRAM.

Many MiniDV cameras can only be hooked up by Firewire, rather than USB, for video capture, but can transfer still images by USB.
When you say it worked before with another program, are you saying that you were able to capture MiniDV video footage from your camocrder with this other program? What program was it?
In general, the best way to capture MiniDV footage is with a Firewire connection. Although just about all pc's and laptops will have USB ports, Firewire ports are still a bit of a specialty - but you can easily and cheaply get a firewire card if your pc doesn't have Firewire ports.

PROBLEM WITH VIDEOSTUDIO 11
Sorry for shouting...
It is a firewire port that I've connected to. I thought it was called a 2.0 USB port. The previous program was CYBERLINK'S POWER TO GO.
Now the program Videostudio11 says that the device (camera) is not connected or the driver is not installed.
Please help again.
Thank you

Sorry, but I have to ask. If you thought the Firewire port was called a USB 2.0 port, what on earth did you think the actual USB 2.0 ports were called? They are far more common -- and numerous -- than Firewire ports.
So before proceeding, I think we really need assurance that indeed you do have a Firewire port on your computer. Google for photos of Firewire ports and compare them to what you have on your camera (which should be a small 4 pin port which looks a bit like a USB port, only slightly wider and without the two upper phlanges of the USB port) and computer (which should be the larger 6 pin variety and slightly rounded at one end).
It would also be extremely useful if you filled in your system specs, and told us what your camera model is and the operating system you are using (XP, Vista...?)

VIDEO STUDIO 11 PROBLEM
Hello Ken,
It is the four pin firewire port that is common on all camcorders made since 1995. The camera is a CANON ZR60 MINI DV.
The computer system is XP Home, and the computer is a late model GATEWAY. I have a sneaking suspicion that the drivers are missing for the port since the program says it is not connected.
Hope this helps.

Your system does not need any specific drivers for a fire wire port, XP installs generic drivers automatically when it detects this port.
There is either something wrong with your cable or the connections.
Did you try to restart your system without the camera connected or switched on? If you do this and then connect the camera and/or switch it on, XP should detect your camera. If it doesn't, then Win XP is not aware of your camera and VS cannot use it because it doesn't exist.
Please clarify whether or not your system detects the camera prior to starting up VS.
