Studio 9 16X9 Support and Surround Sound Support

Post by dun4cheap »

Hey guys and gals,

I am a avid video editor and I fancy new editing tools but before I take a plunge in to the video studio 9 realm I have a few questions.

I currently use many different tools and have used VS 5,6 Arcsoft Show Biz, Studio 8, 9, 9 plus HFZ Plus, Pro, Mega and I will probably continue to use all these tools.

Currently I am after a decent authoring tool that supports proper functionality of 16:9 menus and surround sound. Do the 16:9 menus created by VS9 support proper menu functionality when displayed in letterbox mode on a pan scan TV. Does the surround audio if available support surround sound, or just cinema mode.

Some of you may know me from other forums which I will not mention here, but I am in need of software that will do this. Also how flexible is the DVD authoring, is it cumizeable compared to other products like Pinnacle Studio 9, with intros before menus, placement of buttons, custom buttons etc?

Well please share your experiences in detail. My intent is not to bash other programs, but to expand my tool box if expanding can be done.

Thank you for your time.

Noticing your list of softwares you are familiar with, it occurred to me to ask if you've used what is now the Sony product Vegas (formerly Sonic Foundry Vegas).

I use Sound Forge for audio editing and would be very interested to hear anybody here comment on Vegas. People mention Pinnacle and Adobe products often enough.

I have Vegas 5. As you know, it is a more up-market product than VS (more equivalent to MSP). I find it excellent, but it does not have an easy learning curve -- not at all 'instinctive'. But less complicated than Adobe Premiere.
