A friend recently gave me a "home made" dvd of his wedding to copy and edit with Ulead Video Studio (11 Plus). I am unable to read the DVD and get the following error message
"Failed To Read DVD Information
Report ID: 0x8004090(2305)
I'm sure others have experienced this error. Is there a work-around?

It is possible that you may be a victim of a dll file that has affected some users.

Given that you have a corrupt vob on the disc you could also try to copy the entire disc contents to the hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter. Just google for it and use the free copy.
That particular program is VERY forgiving of corrupt data on DVDs and will correct anything it can whilst transferring to the hard drive.
After that you will have the same DVD file structure on your hard drive as the DVD and you may be able to import more of the original DVD's contents and not lose the contents of a vob file.

Another program that helps with troublesome VOB files is FixVTS.

Some standalone DVD recorders produce discs that cause problems for some copying/reading software - I have such a recorder, and FixVTS allows me to import such DVDs into VideoStudio.
