HUGE Spool Files with Windows XP

Post by ezedixon »

I am experiencing an issue when I try to print multiple images per page. I selected 10 files of various formats for a total of about 80 MB worth of images. Photo Explorer starts creating the print job and spools to over 1.5 GB!!!

Tested on windows 2000 and it spools to approx. 300 MB.

Anyone else experience this?

Any fixes???

Not really. Why do you care what the spool size is? As long as it prints alright, the temp spool file is going to disappear after.

Performance issues mainly.. Did not see it with Version 7.0. Takes a very long time to produce the output.

Were you using the same printer, print resolution, image size and density?

Certain printers are rather slow to start printing while others are quicker. I doubt that spooling 300MB or 1.5GB is that much different in creating. There are so many variables.

Sorry for the delay in reply.

I tested both 7.0 and 8.5 with the same images on the same printer. Both on XP and windows 2000. The results were similar between 7.0 and 8.5 on 2000 but XP and 8.5 was 10 times the size.

We are using this in a network enviornment so there's concern about the impact of the large spool files over the network.
