Does direct DVD authoring also do Mpeg optimization

Post by richlux »

I know the recommended method to create a DVD is to create an mpeg file from your project and then add that mpeg to a new project and burn the DVD from that.

However, if I want to author a DVD directly from my project, will Visual Studio (version 11) do Mpeg Optimization automatically when it creates the DVD. That is, will the portions of my project that are already in Mpeg format be copied directly without re-rendering them?

Thanks,
Rich

Yes, I beleive that's what Smart Render does...there is also an option to not render DVD-mpeg compliant video files. Not at home at the moment and can't remember the exact location of this switch.

The Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files 'switch' is in the middle (Project Settings) conwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning screen.
