Project Properties question
why does VS10+ always make the default File Edit Format MPEG when you click on File, Project Properties, even if you have inserted and are working with AVI files? Is there some reason why I would need to change it to AVI on that Edit Format drop down box when working in editing stage with AVI or any non MPEG files?

That is one of the great mysteries of the world : , and there is probably no real reason or justification. However you can check the box in the Preferences (press F6 to open it), Show message when inserting first video into timeline. Then VS will ask if you want to change they project properties to match that of your video clip.
I will say that would be a nice feature, have the option to set a default video format, such as DV/AVI, or MPEG. But thinking about that, there is more than just the format that needs to be matched.
