Each time I attempt to write a file from DVD MovieFactory, I get to 86 percent complete and get this error message "Source file had some problems (5003), Cannot open file [14252:1:0]."
I've tried copying the actual project files to a different folder and they won't copy. It gives a message that windows has encountered a problem in copying the file but it doesn't say why. It doesn't say access denied or anything.
I've removed the program and reinstaled it and still get the same error message.
DVD Burn Fails at 86% and gives an error message.
Sorry so long for someone to reply here.
5003 and 5012 are common MF errors that nobody can dpecifically say why they're occurring, but only advice is quit reinstalling MF as I found it messes it up, also upgrading reported can ruin your burner if not done exactly right (and few if any even know how to assure this doesn;t happen). also I might suggest if possible, you go back and do a system restore (however rarely that creates minor issues), then if restoring your system (MF, etc.) if you still get the error (likely you will) at least then you should be able to confidently begin to expect burn success after you try the following.
Go back to the clip/clips and check if any have different formats, audio or video byte rates, opposing audio formats like LPCM or MPEG, etc. I found that for some file extensions like wmv's, avi's and mpg or MPG's, that these sometimes contain the issue envolving your burn failure and my workaround is to first export your clip in a format of your choosing and then use MF's "import" link (don't drag them in as sometimes that can cause the issue) to reintroduce your file into MF that way.
Also, some versions of MF don't support AC3 or Dolby audios and you'll need to use something like SUPER on those files. SUPER conerting the files to AVI, MPEG or even WMV ususally will enable MF to import the previously audio challenged clips.
Most likely then your burn will succeed.
