When I have a project that is over 1 hour in length (even a couple minutes), the edited project length (project duration) and the length of the project when I go to share>create disk are different.
After I edit the avi files, I do share>create video file>DVD to create the mpeg-2. Then I clear the timeline and do share>create disk. The time of the project here is less than the time of the original edited project if the project is over one hour. If the project is less than one hour, everything works fine. If I burn the DVD of the 1+ hour project, there are some problems (pauses, skips, stuttering) near the end of the DVD and the actual length of the DVD is what is shown on the share menu instead of the original length. One interesting thing is that on the share>create disk screen, if I pull the jog bar all the way to the right, the length shown is correct; it is just the green bar at the bottom of the page that shows length and DVD size that is incorrect.
Also, if I pull the mpeg-2 into NERO, the length of the project there is the same as the length of the original project, so it appears that the rendering is not the problem--something about share>create disk appears to be making the project shorter.
Here are my project properties:
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

First things first. I would strongly recommend to change your user name to something other than your email address. Spam bots are bound to find you here in next to no time at all and you will be flooded with spam.
You could have a corrupted clip in there causing you grief. I would also reduce the bit rate a bit because at 8000 kbps plus the audio, your project might get a bit over the size for a SD disk.

How can I change my username? Do I just have to create a new profile? (I can change everything but my username when I go to profile--I already tried to change it when I realized what I had done.)
I can try changing the bit rate to see if that makes a difference. I don't think that it is a corrupted clip causing the problem though--this is the same thing that happened last year with completely different avi files. The only way I found around it was to decrease the time to less than one hour--then everything works fine.
Thanks.

I rerendered the project with a lower bit rate. The project properties are as follows:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
After clearing the timeline and doing share>create disk, the length of the project is still incorrect. (The project duration is 1:02:22.06; the length that shows up when I go to create disk is 1:02:18.) I'm not sure lowering the bit rate again will help, since these times are the same that they were at 8000 kbps. Another thing is that when I open the mpeg-2 file that I have created in the timeline of VS, the project duration is 1:02:22.06--what I would expect it to be. I tried pulling in the avi files to share>create disk with a clear timeline to see what would happen. The same problem exists in that the length shown is slightly shorter than the actual length is the actual length is greater than one hour (example: actual length is 1:02:39.24 and length shown in share disk is 1:02:36).
Any other ideas? Thanks.
