I'll buy VS if I can get this bit to work! Using the 30 day trial of v11 so dont have the manual and perhaps being impatient, as I'm comparing this to Premier Elements, not yet decided which one to buy...
My PC is brand new (Athlon 4200+ with 2gig RAM, XP SP2). I have selected PAL/SECAM as I live in the UK.
I can see my video when I play project clips in edit mode, also when I select project playback. But when I select 'create disc' (this seems to be the only way of creating the menus??) and then select preview ('play' from the remote control icon after selecting share/create disc), the screen remains blank and for a fraction of a second a blue progress bar flashes underneath- as if there is no material to preview).
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I like this program, but wont buy it if I cant set up the DVD menu and preview it.
Thanks in advance!
Can't preview - using 30 day trial of VS 11

Go to the Microsoft DirectX site and download the very latest update patch for your computer, dated November 2007. Your DirectX will still be called version 9.0c, but it will now contain a lot of fixes. One of them fixes the lack of preview in the burning module.
And yes, menus are prepared after you click Create Disc, because this opens the authoring (read 'menus')/burning module where menus are constructed.
The VS11 Manual can be downloaded at http://www.ulead.com/vs/documents.htm The help files are almost identical, but are not included in the trial version in order to keep the size of the download down...

Hey Ken
That was spot-on advice, thanks very much, the preview now works perfectly! As a 'vistor', I think I can say you are a credit to the forum.
I wish I could say the same about Mr Black Lab's smart-alec rudeness. I was merely using a touch of humour and dare I say, humility in explaining my position. Impatience is never a good idea in anything we do, but none of us are perfect. It is easy to be misunderstood in print, but in my experience using capitals with a 'twisted evil' emoticon suggests a very clear meaning.
