VS11+ Cropping a video

Post by kelleen »

I'm using VS11+ and am trying to cut off the top of a video clip in a kitchen where the ceiling lights are showing. Would like to just 'cut off this portion", like cropping a picture. Is there anyway to do this with a video clip?

Yes that can be done..

In the Video Filters Library located the Crop Filter. Drag it to your clip. Next select the first preset, then press Customize. Now using the keyframes, and the spinbox (has the default of 50%) adjust your height and width. However when adjusting, it crops both sides equally, so you will have the same amount cropped from the bottom.

Then to keep it the same throughout the clip, right-click on the keyframe you changed the settings (probably the first keyframe), and select copy-paste to all.

Is this feature, or something similar available in Video Studio 9?

I just got the software bundled with a firewire card, and I'm sick of using WMM and Roxio software. THis looks pretty cool so far.

Yes it is. Look in the Video Filters library for the Cropping filter. The Libraries are located on the Right, under "VideoStudio 9". When you launch VS, the first Library is always the Video library. Just click on the drop-down menu arrow, select Video Filters.
