The Optiarc burner is OEM from Sony.

The other question that I have is does it matter what DVD burner it has or whether there is a CD-DVD burner if I'm creating an iso image or dvd folder? Does Video Studio need DVD burner for creating iso image?

To answer your other question, yes, the CD rom does show up in windows explorer as designated drive. In Video Studio, it too recognizes it as in the final screen where there is "Burn" button, there it does show what type of DVD is there in CD drive. When I remove DVD, the screen updates and shows me that drive is empty. If I put CD, it does detect it as CD-R and same with DVD+RW.

The same happens for vcd for CD-R CD burning. It gives the same error.

So do you think for creating an iso image need CD or DVD in place?

Thanks,

Does this error happen with every project your try to burn, or just this particular project?

It happens with every project. I tried to burn with vsp project as adding a video file and also tried adding mpeg video file to burn on dvd. Both didnt work. I tried these separately in new project.

But are you using the same clips, in both the VSP and the MPEG? What I am getting at is you might have a corrupt clip somewhere.
Answer: If Error 5.0.0 appears, it means that one or more of the files in the project is damaged. This could be a video, music or overlay file.

Try saving the project as an MPEG file. If the same error message appears when you save the project, close the program and create a copy of your project file.

Remove files from the project and try re-saving until you have identified the damaged file. Open the original project file and delete the damaged file.
If this is the case you may have to remove files one by one until you find the one that is causing the problem.

I tried using single video clip too. It too didnt work. I could create a video file (mpeg2) out of the same clip. The video file was successfully created. This denotes that there is no corrupt file.

The other thing that I tried was to use the same mpeg video file which is working and I can view it. Using this mpeg video clip only in the project too didnt work.

I'm not sure if videostudio installation is corrupt or some package is corrupt. I didnt get any errors while installation. I had re-installed after getting into this problem, but still the problem exists.

Is there any different package that I could try to install? I'm using video studio 11 plus.

Thanks,
-Shailendra

One more data point. I was able to burn dvd thru Corel DVD Copy 6. I used the same mpeg file to convert it into dvd. It could successfuly create dvd.

For debugging this problem I had un-installed and re-installed Corel DVD Copy 6. Now it asks for serial number. Earlier I had serial number which expired within 10 days. On re-installation, it is working with trial version serial number. How do I get serial key again?

Thanks,

If that is your source video, then obviously it comes from an AVCHD high definition camera which I don't think you told us before... As you may know, AVCHD is the most demanding of the video formats. Your computer probably has the resources to handle it, being a Core 2 Duo. What is the brand and model of your camera?

But when you say you can create an mpeg-2, can you describe what steps you take to do that. And can you give us the properties of the new mpeg-2 clip as well please.

However, there is another important thing. You say you are using VS11+. Does that mean you have not applied the 6 November 2007 update patch and the 8 November Power Pack? Both are required for Video Studio to be able to handle AVCHD correctly. When you click on the ? symbol in the top right of screen and choose 'About Ulead Video Studio', you should then have versions 11.5.0157.2 Plus.

As for your DVD Copy 6 question, I am not sure I understand. Did you just have a trial version of the program? If so, and the trial period has run out, then the only thing you can do is buy the full version...

My VS11+ version is 11.5.0157.1 Plus and Ulead Dolby Digital PowerPack 1.0

Where do I get update patch that is dated 6Nov. 2007 and 8 No. power pack? I went on support page and then on updates and patchs, I found

1. Ulead VideoStudio 11/11Plus Hot Fix01
2. Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack - English

I installed both of these package by running the exe. However, I still see 11.5.0157.1. I did not do any manual installation as described in the notes. I ran the patch and both were installed successfully. Are these the correct patches? If not then please point me to the patches that I would require.

THanks,
-Shailendra

You'll find it on http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm It's the bottom one. It's also on the Corel page, just about ten down (27 MB English, without a date). http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 8716781313

FYI, the Hot Fix at the top of both lists is only needed for a specific problem encountered by some users when first trying to install the program. It is only supposed to be used in that one specific circumstance. However, there was probably nothing affected when you installed it when it was not required...

Hi Ken,

This is unfortunate that now situation has worsen. I installed the patch that you mentioned and now the version does show 11.5.0157.2 plus. However, the problem still exists, it still gives error when you try to burn.

Now, I see one more problem. Now, I can see the video clip in preview. It is able to play mpeg video file. However, it is not able to play m2ts files. I have sony sr 11 camcorder which creates this avchd files.

I completely uninstall all the s/w and reinstalled directx (aug. 2008 release), VS 11+, 6nov.2007 patch, power pack patch, bonus and content package.

I feel now VS 11 is not supporting avchd format or m2ts format.

Please help,
-Shailendra

I am not sure what I can say... VS11.5+ can definitely handle AVCHD/.m2ts files. I do it relatively regularly on my own computer here. It depends on what computer you have, but you have a Core 2 Duo, and that is usually enough. Your own computer is possibly at the lower end of the specifications for handling AVCHD, but it should nevertheless be able to do it. I have, in addition to my current Core 2 Quad 6600, a HP Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ like yours, running Vista Home Premium, and it can handle AVCHD, though very slowly.

You should look at the Help files and find SmartProxy. If you use that, it creates standard definition 'proxy' copies of your AVCHD files. You do your editing to them, and when you finish editing, you apply the edits to the original AVCHD files. The advantage is that you can handle the proxy files, and preview them etc, much more quickly that you can the AVCHD files. Note however that the creation of the proxy files AND the application of the edits to the AVCHD, can both take quite a long time, so you have to be patient.

The only other thing I can think of to suggest that since your camera is a Sony, you might want to capture your AVCHD using the program that came on the CD with the camera. Then you could try opening those in VS 11.5+ and see if there is any difference.

The basic problem is that AVCHD, while a great format in many respects, is also, in my opinion, one of the world's most difficult to edit, and even for many other people, even play smoothly. But with your Core 2 Duo, it should at least be able to play them smoothly in Clip mode in VS, though playing in Project mode would probably be very slow and jerky.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Ken,

Do you have any update on this issue? I'm still not able to create a DVD. I tried using burning sample video files (.wmv) which are installed in ulead installation. I opened empty project and tried to create DVD. I tried to save it as .iso file on local directory. However, I'm still getting the same error. I'm not able to burn any dvd.

I'm feeling so helpless. Is there anyway I can resolve this problem or my money is wasted on this software as I can not burn or create a DVD.

Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks,
-Shailendra
