Torsten,
Done! WMP now can confirm perfect A/V sync of the VOB file.
Thanks for the link.
BTW, I shot some stills of a printed-out copy of the resolution test pattern using my old 3MP Sony, the "4"MP stills of GS400, and also shot some video of the test pattern from a tripod. Results: when they are all rendered down to 720 x 480, there are only slight differences.

Yeah, I think it would be useful for Ulead to clarify exactly what the AC-3 plugin (even when included with UVS 9) does: it allows UVS to decode and encode AC-3 audio. It does nothing for Windows Media Player or any other application that tries to play a file containing AC-3 audio -- for that, you still need something like the free AC-3 filter that supports DirectShow.jchunter wrote:Done! By the way, I believe that the inclusion of AC-3 audio support in UVS 9 is also the reason why the Ulead DVD Player is no longer included -- it doesn't support AC-3. Since UVS 9 prefers encoding audio using AC-3, putting an AC-3 unaware player on a DVD is a bit pointless.

Update:
I have been having difficulty communicating with Ulead Software Developers regarding VS9's video file corruption problem. I recieved email earlier in the week that they could not reproduce the problem.
Just in case they are monitoring this forum, or anyone needs more evidence that the problem is real, I loaded a fifth project that was created with VS8, immediately created a video file, and - the video file went belly up 4 minutes into the playback.
In this context, belly-up means video stalling, stuttering, audio disconnecting from the video, video blockiness, etc. etc. Transitions seem to aggravate this problem. This makes five out of five projects that exhibit this problem.
I do NOT see this problem with any VS9 captured/edited video.
