Why nobody at Ulead (Corel) does not want to admit that there is a problem with patch installation... And it would be nice to have stable product with feature or two less.

I get the same message when trying to install the VS11 update.
I have installed VS11 in the default folders, but it is not recognized apparantly.

Having same issue, Can't update videostudio 11 (non-plus)

Post by ejantzen »

Update refused to understand that it is installed on my system. I have removed it and reinstalled; followed the instructions posted on the forums for doing a clean install - cleaned registry, etc. I'm am not computer stupid, but Ulead/Corel must think I am. Thanks!

Always the same message.

"Installer can not find Ulead Videostudio 11 on your machine."

My version that can't patch, It's the boxed Retail version.

Can I just seek a point of clarification here? Are we talking about the patch or the Power Pack? The patch is meant for both VS11 and VS11+. However, the PowerPack is only meant for VS11+ and if you don't have that, it won't install. I note, for instance, ejantzen, that you appear only to have VS11, not the Plus version. So this is why I ask...

I'm having same update patch problem. Running Vista x64. Installed trial version from website, want to try if Ulead can edit AVCHD files from my new canon HG10.
aparently, videostudio 11 can not:
- import .M2TS files (AVCHD)
- edit them
- create AVCHD disk (or blue ray disk)
:(

may be patch can fix it? but i can not install patches, neither UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack nor UVS11_Patch_Eng. I tried both in any order. It said 'can not find ulead video studio on your machine'. :(

I thought, may be patch can not find VS because it installed in 'program files (x86)' ?
tried to copy it into 'program files', same bug. 'can not find ulead video studio on your machine'. :(

I like Video Studio , but can not buy it unless it can import avchd files and create blueray/avchd disk.

please help!!

Sorry, but the patch and Power Pack will only install in the full version of the program, not in the trial version which you are using.

My understanding is that VS11+ can do what you are wanting it to do, and I thought it could do so even without the patch or Power Pack. It certainly can, with them. But I will leave it to others better versed in AVCHD than I to answer you in greater detail on that.

hm... developers should change error message when...

but some guy in this thread told he has same patch problem with boxed version, the one you bought from the store. therefore i affraid even if i would buy it it might not solve me avchd editing problem, i will take chance :(

are you official Corel person? is it official information? I'd not mind buying IF it really solve the problem.

the problem is - I am not sure if ulead VS will create good quality video. I never used this product before and can not try it now. I'm littile affraid of buying it before trying avchd...

I have VS11 plus and i can not neihter import avchd nor create avchd disks. Even if ulead claims they can...

it is all kind of frustrating

No one who works on this Board is a Corel/Ulead employee. We are all merely volunteers. So no, I don't talk for Corel or Ulead...

I have never been in the position of importing .m2ts files as I don't have one of those cameras. However, it certainly is one of the permitted formats.

I have, however, dealt with high definition video in both HD mpeg-2 format and .tp format (transport stream). And I have converted it to AVCHD format using VS11.5+ (i.e. with the patch and Power Pack installed). That was only my old P4 computer which was not powerful enough to play the AVCHD back, though it edited and produced it. That was a very slow process, however. When I opened the edited AVCH on my Core 2 Duo computer, that would play it fine, as does my new Quad 6600.

And VS11.5+ can prepare an AVCHD disc.

However, I am hoping etech will soon come in to this thread, as he is the real expert on HD/AVCHD editing...

i seem UVS11+ will not support .m2ts files even if it would buy full version:
I have the full version UVS 11 Plus and it does not open .m2ts files. Every attempt returns a file format mismatch error message.
I have full version of UVS 11 Plus, but I can¡¦t open m2ts files to edit.
http://www.digitalcamcordernews.com/200 ... ng-support

may be these folks did not run "power pack" which upgrades it to 11.5+
kind of little confusing.

tr6scott -- it's not because you have installed VS on a drive other than C:\. I have it installed on K:\ drive on my 6 HDD system, and both the main program AND the patch and Hot Pack installed correctly on that drive. Moreover, they all work as advertised.

That being said, though, I can't think of a reason why yours should not do the same... Sorry.
