It seems that a small application included with VS, called uvPL.exe conflicts with MS Visual C++. The uvPL.exe is loaded at windows start up, so try disabling it. To do so, go to Start>Run, and type in msconfig. This will launch the Windows Configuration Utility. Locate the Start up tab, then scroll down until you find uvPL.exe, and uncheck the box beside it, reboot and see if you still get the runtime error..

That little utility is nothing more then sort of a preloader. It helps VS launch faster. If disabling it from the Windows start up in msconfig didn't fix it, then I think you will need to do a clean uninstall/reinstall.
Be advised that Corel (Ulead) apps leave a lot of stuff behind when you do a simple uninstall from the control panel. You will need to clear those so VS does not try to re-use them when you reinstall.
Go HERE for complete instructions on a complete uninstall/reinstall.

Did this solve your problem
I have the same issue with both Video Studio 11 and 12 now crashing and giving the Visual C++ Runtime Error - it happens as soon as I try to load a video file into my workspace.
