New SmartSound Libraries Featuring Classic Soundtracks

Post by Black Lab »

From Videomaker Magazine:

SmartSound has launched a set of new libraries featuring tracks from EMI's film and TV catalog.

You can use SmartSound's SonicFire Pro application (as well as some of its other SmartSound-enabled apps) to time and arrange these popular scores to fit the needs of your video. Licensing is unlimited for home use only. Compatible with VS 8-11.

Libraries include EMI TV Classics (Batman, Lost in Space), EMI Wars & Westerns (How The West Was Won, For a Few Dollars More), EMI Epics & Thrillers (North by Northwest, Lawrence of Arabia) and EMI Movie Classics (Ben-Hur, Ghostbusters).

Each can be bought from SmartSound directly for $39.95 or you can get the whole lot (4 discs) for $99.

Thanks for the heads up, Jeff. Guess my wallet may stretch to the whole lot, especially since our dollar here has now reached near parity with yours!

BTW, have you bought any or all? Are they 22K or 44K?

I have not bought them and, in fact, am a little confused as I re-read the article. I thought it was perfectly ok to use any music, even copyrighted, for you own, personal use. As the article states, "Licensing is unlimited for home use only." If my assumptions are correct, why pay $39.95 if I can rip it myself or purchase it for $.99 from Napster?

Back to the old copyright conundrum I guess. :?

Anyway, it's out there for anyone to enjoy.
