Download v Boxed
I am about to upgrade to UVS 11.5 Plus. Would anyone know what the difference is between the Download and Boxed versions, (other than the box and discs) please. Also what do I need to download and where is the best site to get it.
Also, what is the difference between purchasing v11 and getting the free upgrade and purchasing the full upgrade to v11.5 plus.
Thank you and kind regards,
Mike.

The boxed version you get a paper manual, and are able to do "repair" re-installs.Would anyone know what the difference is between the Download and Boxed versions
Nothing that I'm aware of. You could proceed either way. The Power-Pack will only work with VS11+, not the standard version. Also, what is the difference between purchasing v11 and getting the free upgrade and purchasing the full upgrade to v11.5 plus.

Power Pack Instalation
I'm sure the above recommendations should be helpful... come PowerPack be installed, first.
The problem is I can't install Power Pack on my UVS11.
Each time I try to, it says 'Can't find UVS11 on this machine', and whenever I launch the UVS11, the installation program recommends to exit it.
HotFix01 and Patch122507-03 have been successfully installed.
Abashed.
Please, any help is appreciated...

Re: Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack
Absolutely. Just created a new log-in and the same thing happens. Typical Corel merde.Svuppe wrote:Oh this is just great. The Corel website login refuses to recognise my login details. UVS11_Plus_ESD_ENG_PowerPack.exe 55,218 KB
Is this a known problem with old Ulead logins?

No, updates can't be applied to trial versions. Kind of hard to trial it, huh?

Youtube option broken
I use VS11+ and upload the results to Youtube. I've spent ages trying to meet their requirements so that the best quality results after they've processed it, things like 320x240 DivX AVI etc.
Yet after they've processed it it's never as good as my file supposedly at the same quality. Presumably they process it with a very low data rate algorithm. But I've always wondered if I was missing the magic combination.
So under this free Powerpack download, I was excited to see an option to upload direct to Youtube. So surely Corel will optimise the output?!
So instead of my usual settings that produced a good 320x240, 80MB avi file, I went with the new option for Youtube output, best quality, which strangely was happy to go at 640 x 480 etc. So I let it do it, and the resultant file is only an 8MB wmv file, with atrocious quality. I try good quality and low quality. Same results - terrible, all the same sized 8 MB file and all far inferior to my usual settings.
I can only assume this is a bug in the Powerpack. Anyone else aware of it? Already reported? Fixes coming?
Cheers.

What you experienced with YouTube is very common. The WMV file created by VS is further compressed by YouTube to a FLV (Flash) video file. It is nearly impossible to have a decent quality video displayed on YouTube. You would need to use a very high quality video clip to start with. Something in the realm of HD video.
I've ran a series of tests, and no matter what was used, the resulting clip on YouTube left a lot to be desired..

Well I'm a disappointed user.
I have used VS9 and 10+ and when 11+ was released I upgraded immediately, but instantly discovered a bug that makes it useless for me. Even though I set the project frame rate to 30 fps and it says it is 30 fps the final 30 fps video has framerate-conversion judders. I had to uninstall and install VS 10+ again to be able to create smooth videos. Now that the 11.5-updates are out I thought I'd try it again. The problem is still there. I can set the project frame rate to 25 in VS 10+ and duplicate the judder-result I get with 11. I started a thread on the problem in this forum back when I first discovered it.
This is for WMV9 and happens with both VBR and CBR. And yes, of course my source video is 30 fps.
VS 11 is still utter crap! And it's insanely slow compared to 10.
I'm trying h.264 now instead.
EDIT:
The same happens with h.264. I'm going back to VS 10+ again.

Youtube option
Agreed that Youtube will always mess with the upload, but obviously there's also a bug in VS, because where I was referring to output files of 8 MB that was prior to uploading to Youtube, i.e. VS best quality option to upload to Youtube creates an extremely low quality version on your harddrive, much worse than even what Youtube would do to it. Presumably a bug where their GUI offers best to lowest and presumably no matter what you pick it does lowest.vidoman wrote:What you experienced with YouTube is very common.
