I've just applied the VS11 update and it installed correctly. However, I have noticed that now Windows explorer crashes when it tries to load image or video thumbnails.
This is in Vista 32 bit and it is definitely due to the update because it also hapenned when I updated MF6+ with the recent update.
The only way I have been able to stop Windows explorer from crashing is to disable thumbnails Windows explorer. Anyone else also noticed this issue.
I can't recall how I resolved the MF6+ thumbnail issue, but I think I did a clean install of Vista around the same time and made sure that I installed VS11+ after MF6+!
Also I have a destop computer with Vista 64bit and this does not exhibit any problems since the update.

This sounds like a problem with your installation of Microsoft Vista.
