Widescreen issue

Post by stelch »

Hi
I have VS11+ and when I capture (in widescreen) I can monitor the video on the VS11 as widescreen as well. Now after capturing when I go to edit mode the video is not shown in widescreen but in 4:3 mode. I did check at the start-up screen the 16:9 mode. Why is so?

Maybe your video is 720 x 576 wide screen? It seems strange but 720 x 576 (PAL of course, the same goes for NTSC with 720 x 480) can be either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect, non square pixel issue.

Hi

What settings did you capture to Dv or Mpeg.
Digital or analogue capture.

Use digital to Dv format via firewire

Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties.

What do the ¡¥attributes¡¦ show 16:9 or 4:3

Read my guide ¡¥16:9 a look at widescreen¡¦

Shows what the video should look like in VS

Thanks guys for your answers. Well the problem was that I was capturing in MPEG instead of AVI. Silly me.
By default the setting is MPEG. Can you change it to always be on AVI?

Hi Stelios

Afaik my program defaults to the last used format.
As I use DV format for most of my work the capture is always set to DV.

When you say Avi, is this what the ¡¥format¡¦ box shows. Or does it indicate ¡¥DV¡¦.

You should capture to 'DV' format...................

Trevor I always capture in DV although my camera (Sony HDR-FX7) is HDV, I prefer fot the moment, to capture in DV as my clients want this format.
