Audio setup problem with windvd 8 hd/br
I purchased a laptop with a hd dvd player and it came with the windvd player. I also separately purchase a Creative SB Xtreme Audio sound card and the adapter to allow for surround sound. I also have surround sound head phones. When I go to Setup and go to the audio tab I can't make any selection to change the Audio Output Configuration or the Audio Speaker Configuration. The options are all greyed out and I can only select either headphone or 2 channel front. I have read that windvd doesn't support sound anymore but I can't even change how it outputs. Any ideas what might be the problem?

Have you set up 5.1 in the windows audio control (Sounds and audio devices - speaker settings - advanced)? If you only have stereo there, winDVD may not realize you have 5.1 in reality.
I'm currently trying to use WinDVD6 with a similar 5.1 headset and the same sound card (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook with 5.1 docking module). It works perfectly with VLC media player and Nero Showview, but it somehow fails in WinDVD. I can select 5.1 speakers, but I got no center output. So, if you manage to choose 5.1, I am really curious whether the center channel will work for you in WinDVD8.
