When I click on track, it goes to the beginning......

Post by radman2020 »

When I go to select, say an audio track to change the volume, the curser automatically goes back to the beginning of the track!!! it drives me nuts. Is there a way to stop it from doing this?

thanks.

I'd also be interested in knowing :)

I didn't think to try it, but wonder if you held the shift or control key when you clicked the track ... ?

Hi

The curser indicates a position within the project or clip.
The position is displayed in the digital clock. This frame is displayed on the preview screen.

If the curser is indicating a frame part way across any clip and you select the clip, then the curser should remain in the same position.

When you select a different clip the curser will always select the first frame.
It has to select one of the frames and the first is as good as any.

This is the same for all types of clips Audio, Titles, Video etc

You can navigate to the last frame by using the buttons below the preview screen

thanks...

but... what actually seems to happen is that I want to change the volume for example. I clikc the audio track clip at the position that the cursor is already at ... either on that first click or a second click, I am at the begginning...

why can't I click on that audio line and work there without it shifting position?

as an aside, what is the diff between the green and the red audio lines?

Hi

I am using VS 10.

When I click a clip the curser stays in position.

If I move or resize the clip then the curser changes position.

If I select a clip not covered by the curser, then the curser goes to the start.

Using VS 10 there are two sound tracks, one a Music Track and the other a Voice Track.
Don¡¦t see the colours red and green Bay be that¡¦s VS 11.

Afaik both tracks operate the same.
The only difference is the way the sound is imported.

Using Smart Sound and the clips will use the Music track.
Record through a Mic¡¦ and the clip uses the Voice track.
Import from audio CD uses Music Track.

Import manually, drag and drop and you can use either track.

BTW, do you know how to make a cut that goes through all tracks at once. Mine only does the selected track. If I hold shift and select 2 tracks, it still only cuts one.

thx

Hi

Sorry, but you have to do the cuts one at a time.

how do you make sure they line up then? If I click the next track, it may not be in exactly the same place?

I am trying to extract segments of my larger video production and there doesn't seem to be an easy way. The multitrim only seems to work for the video track.

So... I need to cut across all tracks in 2 places then delete everything else...then export.... then undo all the changes... seems very cumbersome.

I guess I could make an avi of all the tracks and cut that up... but then I lose all my clues where to cut and I bet I lose some fidelity..

this is not as user freindly as I had hoped.
