Hi - I'm wondering whether anyone has any clues. I am using VS 11+ and trying a simple capture from my analog/digital board. Video works in capute and record but no audio. However, when I go to record an audio track to add to the clip - I get one channel of audio. Why doesn't it detect my audio in capture ( when capture is what I bought it for....)
Source: 713X BDA Analog capture
AVI or MPEG - doesn't matter
Win Vista -
Video: ASUSTek LNA Tiger Hybrid Capture Device
Sound: Realtek High Definition Audio
Audio input source says PCI audio - but there is no way of changing input setting like most video programs.
All thoughts appreciated.
no audio on capture

The "rumor" is, that VS11 can't capture analog video at all! Perhaps your capture device is an exception.... for the video. This might be fixed in VS11.5. (Due out tomorrow - November 6th?)....trying a simple capture from my analog/digital board. Video works in capute and record but no audio.
However, analog capture is one of the trickiest parts of this whole tricky digital video world. You never know if capture-hardware and capture-software are going to work well together until you try them together. If your capture device came with software, it's usually best to use that software for the capture step. After you have a digital audio/video file on your hard drive, you can use the video editing and DVD authoring software of your choice.
That sounds like a bad connection or a bad cable. Can you hear both channels during recording? If so, it's not a bad connection/cable, as both channels are getting into the computer. However, when I go to record an audio track to add to the clip - I get one channel of audio.
It could also be a software problem, or a bad "balance" setting in the Windows recording mixer. What software are you using for audio recording?

I have windows media centre...it doesn't do analog capture...the ulead should because I had an old version that did it ok (pre-vista)

Yes both channels are there - if I listen to the input - works fine. ..so it is there somewhere. The one channel sound doesn't occur on catpure - it occurs if I record later in the editing - supposedly recording from mic. Other capture software has the ability to switch audio sources - am I right in thinking this does't.
Thanks for answering Doug...

Windows Media Centre for Vista won't do analogue capture - the card is capable - but the software won't. The problem with video studio seems to be that although I can choose the video source, the audio source is automatic, and it is not choosing the right one. Any thoughts?skier-hughes wrote:A proper media centre pc will do analogue capture, you use the input on the tuner card.rpowellweb wrote: I have windows media centre...it doesn't do analog capture...the ulead should because I had an old version that did it ok (pre-vista)
