Unable to install service pks for MovieFactory 5

Post by corleonedd »

I have a Seagate ST9160821AS ATA 160GB hardrive and running Vista Home Basic with DVD MovieFactory fo Toshiba 5.51.0018.0 SE001.

When I try to install the service packs (dmf5_patch_e, etc.), I get the error messege "Setup cannot find moviefactory 5 installed on your system". Any help please.

The Version of MovieFactory that ships with the Toshiba is a Special Edition
not a full version - hence the letters SE001 after the version number.
Having said that, DVD MovieFactory 5 for Toshiba works fine on my Vista Laptop and appears as good as the full version of MF5.

Is there a particular reason why you wanted to install the service pack or are you just trying to "keep it up to date." If you are not having any problems I would simply leave it as it is. Toshiba will have tweaked it anyway to ensure it works OK on the Toshiba system.

I tried to make a DVD from a few .avi files and MF5 froze, saying not responding. So, I tried to do it again, this time with a .mpeg movie and got the same response. I then restarted my notebook and tried again, only this time, it never burnrd to the blank disk(dvd-r). I started MF5 in the morning and when I came back in the afternoon. it was still on the burning stage with no progress.

What was the source of your avi and MPEG files?
You will need to elaborate on the term avi because it is a term to describe a wide variety of video formats including
DV
DivX
Xvid
MPEG4
and a number of other formats.

There is a guide here regarding the information we need to try and offer some solutions

The original movie was a .flv from a realplayer download. I used Internet Video Converter to convert it a WindowsMediaPlayer .avi so that I can play the movie on my Xbox360. Now I would like to burn it to a DVD so that I can play it on my home dvd player. I'm just having trouble getting the movie to burn. it maybe the discs.

If you think the disc are the problem then try burning to a hard drive folder.
You can later burn that to a DVD disc.

Otherwise it might be that MovieFactory doesn't like the wmv file you have created, try converting it to MPEG2 first.
