VS11+ no need for DVDMF 6+?

Post by harhash »

Does ulead videostudio 11+ (especially with the new patch 11.5) have the same functionality of DVD MF 6+ so that I won't need to purchase the latter? What are the difference between the two? and will Blu Ray BDMV from VS11.5 allow making 24p Blu Ray Discs without reencoding?
Another question is any one knows if 11.5 will enable writing back AVCDHD files on the hard disc? or just exporting to DVD directly as AVCDHD DVD?

You may have to put the 24p into a 29.97fps 3:2 wrapper stream, same as dvd's, I don't know if the program will pass this frame rate directly into the multi-plexing stage without re-encoding.

MF6+ now can export directly to a avc/h264 file. I would certainly expect the same from the VS11+ patch. Ulead is using the mainconcept h264 encoder to encode the files at either VBR or CBR. In MF6+ the program does a really nice job of encoding to h264. I've been very pleased with the encodes. So far I've been able to playback the avchd disks in the Sony / PS3 / Panasonic / Pioneer Blu-Ray Players.

I think the patches for VS11+ are due out this week or so. I don't think you will need to purchase MF6+ for anything, not 100% sure though. Pretty sure your questions will be answered soon, this week when the patch for VS11+ is released along with VS11.5+

Just to reinforce what etech has told you: none of us on this forum work for Corel or Ulead. We are all just users of the products, like you, who volunteer our time to work on the forum.

In other words, none of us has yet seen VS 11.5. It comes out tomorrow (6 November) as far as I am aware. So no one will be able to answer your questions here until we have obtained our copies (those of us who intend to, that is) and tried it out.

There are a few differences between MovieFactory and VideoStudio when it comes to DVD authoring though you might need to look hard to find them.
Here is an example of something that can be done in MovieFactory and not VideoStudio:
