Video Capture Problems
I just installed an Nvidia 8600 card on my PC and now I am not able to capture video. The Firewire interface is integrated onto the motherboard, I also tried installing a PCI Firewire interface and still I am not able to send the video from the camera to the PC. I tried two different cameras A Sony FX7 and a Sony HC21 video camera. Any ideas what could be wrong? The drivers seem to be working on both 1394 Net Adapters (the internal and the PCI) the Nvidia 8600 card comes equipped with a BB Capture feature could this be causing the problem? I disabled the driver and this didn¡¦t fix the problem.

Please take a look at the post above "read this forst before posting"
We're going to need more information that that.
I'm assuming you had no problems capturing before you updated the Video Card.
I'm assuming Windows recognises both cameras.
We need to pin point and isolate the possible cause.
Thanks

Re: Video Capture Problems
I just realized I haven¡¦t done any video capturing in the last several months. I have tested the 1394 card by plugging it from my PC to a laptop and it seems to be running fine. I looked at the packets sent in the network menu and shows 0 packets sent when I plug the interface into the camera, when I plug it into the PC it is transferring packets, what has me stumped is it is doing it on an HDV camera as well as my DV Camera, I tested video out to a TV set and that is working fine, I have also tried two different Ulead software¡¦s Videostudio 10 as well as Video Editor 8.0, I have also tried AVID and Windows Movie Maker and it still does not want to capture the video.

Video Capture Problems
If it is a DLL problem how do I go about installing a new DLL? Since both Sony Cameras are not working on this computer it makes since it is a corrupt DLL. I am going to purchase a mini 1394 cable this afternoon and see if the Sony FX7 works on the laptop, if it doesn't work then the 1394 is fried on the camera and then I will send the camera back to Sony Styles and have them fix the camera.

Suggestions:
You have 2 DV camcorders, I would put the FX1 into the HDV->DV convert mode and connect them together. You should be able to copy/record from one cam to the other. This would verify if the 1394 ports are working correctly on the cams.
I installed a 8600GTS in both XP & Vista. If you don't have any Nvidia capture boards or devices installed I would remove those drivers. They may be listed on the install CD as WDM Drivers. You should only need the basic Nvidia graphics video drivers. Then reboot the computer.
You can also go into the device manager, right-click on the 1394 firewire device and select Un-Install. After it's un-installed go into "install new hardware" and activate this screen. The 1394 device will be re-installed by windows again. If your not using the 1394 port for networking then under device manager right-click on the 1394 Network adapter & select Disable. This will only affect the networking drivers for the 1394 card, not the HDV or DV drivers.
