On PhotoImpact 11 how do I get the modes

Post by silverdolphin »

Back on the My Wokrspace area? I don't have the personalize option there.

Even when I started that program the first time, I never got to select between Basic Photo Mode or Standard Photo Mode?

These are the options I have under the My Workspace menu bar item.

My Workspace

Panels
Panel Manager
Standard Toolbar
Attribute Toolbar
Status Bar
Toolbox
Customize (even this doesn't give mode options).

Thanks.

What OS are you running?

If it is XP, go into C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact\11.0\profiles\current.xum and delete the current.xum.

If you have PI open, close it and reopen. Another way to do this is to right click on the side or bottom of the PI window and select 'Open workspace' then click on customize and choose import. You will see the curent.xum. Select it and hit the delete key on your keyboard. Close PI and reopen, the menu bar and everything else should appear as it intended.

If it is VISTA then I can't help but locating this folder and deleting the xum file should have the same effect.

If this doesn't fix it, especially since you stated that you never had that option, a fresh install might be in order.

Unfortunately, even the full reinstall doesn't work for me

I still do not get the mode options and I have Windows XP. It is the full version of PhotoImpact 11.

It just goes right to the Welcome to PhotoImpact screen. I think the chose screen tries to load, but somehow it is getting overridden. I briefly see a blank white page but choices don't load and the Welcome to Photo Impact Screen instantly takes its place.

The modes still don't appear under the My Workspace area either.
It keeps going either to standard mode, advanced mode, or web mode).

I know its not basic photo mode, becuase the toolbox items are not colored.

Is there any other way to get the mode options back?

Did you try Heinz's suggestion of deleting the current.xum file? Have you attempted a clean uninstall/reinstall? If deleting the current.xum file does not correct it, then you will need to reinstall..Using this Method.

Even with following those steps the modes chose

Doesn't show. No link provided to any patches either. I just get the ad for PhotoImpact 12.

Then it goes to a Welcome screen for PhotoImpact 11.

Maybe the PhotoImpact I have was an earlier version of 11 that didn't have the modes on it to begin with.

I can still use PhotoImpact11, just cannot use the tutorials that go with PhotoImpact 11 becuase they have required mode changes in them.

You are not making sense. There is no PI 11 version A and B, PI 11 is PI 11, crappy as it was.

I don't have it installed anymore because it was a memory waster. I only used it over PI 10 because of the added RAW support. Once PI 12 came out, I went to that version and after a while got rid of PI 11 altogether. Still had PI 10 installed because I was used to that one but now have not used it for quite a while.

What is the version number shown when clicking on the help menu >About? Which tutorial are you trying to do? Maybe that will trigger my memory.
