Looking for about a 10 second video of blue sky with moving clouds. Need it as close to 720x480 as I can get it.
Went through the sample content and couldn't find anything.
Went through Steve's list of Free Goodies and didn't see much for this.
Googled myself to death and found either Googlevideo or Youtube stuff, but they're SWF files that I can't save or they're too small. The other things I've found are stock footage which I really don't want to pay for on this little project.
It's going to serve as a background on an intro. It will have an overlay covering some of it. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does need to be free (or less than $5 USD) and within the next 24 hours.
Not asking much, am I? <LOL>
Seriously, I didn't think it would be so difficult to get a short video of the sky with moving clouds . . .
Anyone have an idea where I can get this?

Perhaps one of our forum members could shoot a bit of suitable sky and share it on Driveway.com - a site that enables files up to 500MB to be uploaded for free.
In fact we have had similar requests for small snippets of footage in previous posts. Why not as a group we build up a library of our own stock footage - we are after all here to help each other.
If anyone can provide some short videos of things like clouds, waterfalls, fields, busy roads, so on and so forth we could create a suitable link in the General Information forum.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone!
I'll check out the links as soon as I post this . . .
Steve, your idea about creating our own stock footage is great! I'll be honest, that's exactly what I was poking around the forums for last night. I could have sworn that something like that had already begun . . . I certainly have some sound bytes that I could contribute to the audio portion.

bob733 . . . thanks for the thought. I'm on the other side of the Gulf from you so I know what you're dealing with. Mucho rain coming your way, I heard last night. Stay dry, and appreciate the offer. Maybe you can shoot it after the storm passes and then upload it to the new User stock footage?
lancecarr . . . thanks for the links! Yes, the first one is a bit late in the day; I was looking for blue, blue, blue skies with white clouds. Also, the boat gets in the way - but I am doing an overlay so maybe the boat wouldn't be seen. That video is the correct size and of good quality so it might be my "Plan B." The link for wikimedia blew me away. Never knew it existed. You're right, there are several videos that are exactly what I'm looking for. They're a bit smaller than I would like, but I think I could "stretch" them to 720x480 without too much loss. Downloaded the OGG codecs, but can't seem to get them into avi or another format. Any ideas?
Steve . . . I think your idea of us creating our own stock footage is gaining momentum! After the next couple of weeks, I can certainly contribute by uploading snippets of the Eiffel Tower (millennium celebration) and other such stuff. If you set this up, and I hope you do, be sure to have info so we can give credit to the videographers who shot the material if we use it, eh?
Many thanks to all for the replies. Now, if I can just convert OGG to AVI I think I'll be in good shape!

Well you have had your share of Hurricane hits also so I appreciate your comments.
I found a product (15 day trial - 39 bucks after) that captures screen. It is every bit as good as Camtasia ($179 educational pricing). I was comparing them and the zdsoft program won. The only thing Camtasia had going for it was its editing ability - but we have Ulead for that eh?
The reason I am saying this is that I grabbed a region from the screen and it produced an avi file (with whatever codec I wanted (I used the TSCC codec in this instance).
You could use this and cut out the unwanted portions. Just a suggestion.
And I am not affiliated with either of these products and if I did a no no for talking about it, I am sorry and wont do it again.

bob733 . . . That screen capture program worked great. I used to use a different one, but didn't keep it up and it won't work on XP and beyond. Although the trial version watermarked it in the top left corner, I was able to crop it off and still use the resulting video as my background.
Just saw the hurricane on the late news. While it's not hitting your coast directly, the unpining and erosion is devastating!
Hope the beaches can be saved . . .
Many thanks everyone!
