Why under vista my movie factory is not working
What version of Movie Factory? MF5 needs the Vista update pack. MF6 is supposed to work with Vista. The older/earlier versions were not designed to work with Vista.

What format is your video file? (The more-compresed formats sometimes cause trouble.) What format is your subtitle file?

It is likely that either the video or the subtitle file is corrupt.
Try making a DVD (To a hard drive folder to avoid a wasted disc) without the subtitle file. If it works then the chances are the subtitle file is the issue.

If it still fails then the chances are that the 'avi' file is the issue.
'avi' is in fact a term for a wide variety of different formats, some of which MovieFatory and other similar programs like, and some that MovieFactory and other similar programs hate.

The most suitable avi format is DV - Digital Video - developed by Microsoft. A typical file size is 13 GB per hour.
Other formats which can give headaches when working with them include
DivX / Xvid / MPEG4 - these are highly compressed formats with a typical file size of 700 MB per hour.

If you are using one of the highly compressed formats - popularly used for sharing video on the ingernet - then it is normally best to convert them to MPEG2 with a third party program. There are several available - many free - simply Google for 'avi to mpeg2' or check out our

not working

All the files are ok, because other programs read and work with this normally. I checked everything : subtitles and video files and are ok.
Now the program work but when i try to burn a dvd i receive an generic error from windows. I have disabled all other burner programs, the dvd burner is ok because it is working with every other program; the dvd support that i use are high quality and absolutely error free. The problem is that in my desktop, that is an old Pentium 4 everything is working fine and i can burn the dvd with movie factory. In my laptop with a new Intel 2Dual core the program is not work properly, so I think the processor is the problem
