HELP - Stop, Start effect.....

Hi,

Just upgraded to VS9 from 7 then 8 and was wondering if anyone knows how to make a stop start effect?

The video I am editing is of someone running and I basically want to make them freeze (for a second, with maybe a flash) then start again and repeat this 3 times in time with the beat of the music.

I've seen this done many times on TV and on various ameteur clips.

I've tried most filters and can not achieve this effect.

Can anyone help ???

I don't know if there is an easier way but couldn't you cut the video at the point you want the stop and capture the image, display the image for however long is required then play the remaining part of the clip. I did this successfully only last weekend on VS8.

Just an idea.

Sounds like the easiest, simplest and best way to me. - the 'Flash' could be one or two frames of a white colour block put in the overlay track at the appropriate point - if it's to 'solid' give it a bit of transparency.
