Video and menu gets cropped

Hello,

I just authored a DVD and burned it without any problems, but when I play it on a television the menu edges and video edges are cut off. The resolution looks right, but everything is cropped.

I couldn't find any other instances of this in the forum. Anyone know a fix?

This is normal. TVs are normally adjusted for overscan on all 4 sides to compensate for various analog issues. The amount of overscan varies from TV-to-TV, but you usually loose about 10% of the picture. Professional photographers and producers know to keep all of the important information inside the safe area.

Wow, I've seen that safe area in my editor for so long and always assumed it was some TV-related thing (I work in web video) but never knew what. Thanks for clearing this up.
