I found out the hard way that I have to turn off this feature in my Sony DCR-DVD405 prior to shooting, otherwise you cant get rid of it later, or at least I dont know how to without using other software . Reffering to an earlier thread by luis and tetralite:
I have also had the same problem, what a pain in the %$#. I tried the idea of using Pinnacle to open the file and save it , then use UVS to reopen it, but I get a "file mismatch" error. URGHHHH! I am using just the trial version of Pinnacle as all I want to do is to save/resave a dozen files without the time/date appearing (the time/date is wrong so it is even more aggravating). God, why cant there be a simple download from Corel to cure this? I know this isnt a "problem" for some, but it is for some of us and I wont be the last person to google this......what a drag!
Please help!
Remove time/date stamp revisited..

I used Pinnacle trial version, when I saved it I believe it gave it a .ple extension. Not being familiar with it, I tried to "save as" and give it a .mpg extension, but was unable as it was not given to me as an option. I have since deleted the Pinnacle trial version, but if I am convinced it can work I will download it again.[/quote]

Hi pete-o,
I don't know anything about the trial version and it may be very likely that it won't allow you to save an mpeg file due to being just the trial version. I am using Pinnacle Studio Plus 11. To save an mpeg file in my full version you don't go to the File menu and choose "save as" because that option is actually "save project as" and it creates a "project" file that only the Pinnacle program uses.
To save an mpeg file you first import the file into the timeline (under the "2. Edit" tab and then click on the "3. Make Movie" tab, then click on the "File" icon on the left side and then choose MPEG2 in the file type box and also make a selection in the "preset" box regarding compatibility (DVD, SVCD, etc.). Then you click on create file and it will prompt you for a file name and location on your hard drive.
That's how it works in the full version. I can't tell you about the trial version. All I know is that when I take a file from the Sony that was recorded with the sub-t date setting on, this process of importing and then re-saving the file drops the date and time from the video.
