VS9 Video Pan & Zoom Filter
Has anyone tried using the new VS9 video pan & zoom filter?
I was especially excited that this feature, as well as Ripple
Editing was added to VS9.
Any comments on the pan & zoom filter from those who have
tired using it?
Thanks!

I find the Pan & Zoom option in VS8 complete unusuable because of the blurring. Only for pictures though.
I have no expectations for the Panning and Zooming in VS9. Have you ever used the cropping filter with different dimensions? It's in fact panning & zooming. Watching the jumping in the video-stream gives you a headache.

I have already upgraded and installed version 9 but haven't worked with the pan and zoom yet. My question is to those who talk about it being blurry. Are you basing that on the preview window or after rendering and authoring?
The reason I ask is that I used it extensively on version 8 without any problems.

One nice thing that was added in UVS9 in the Share tab was a Project Preview -- it will finally perform a preview using the project properties, so rather than having to watch your video using the arbitrarily sized Preview window, you now get to see it as a 720x480 window with nothing else on the screen, for example.

Gra -- essentially, ripple editing means that when you do some editing in the timeline, cutting or adding things, the other elements (e.g. audio, titles) will take account of the changes and stay coordinated (I hesitate to use the word synchronised) with them. In other words, the 'bad old days' of having to remember to move titles etc up and down the timeline after other editing to keep them where they were supposed to be linked, are now gone.
And Waxonwaxov, yes -- video pan and zoom is limited to VS 9 (and apparently only the full version of it).

I haven't seen anything anywhere that says that the SE versions don't have Video Pan & Zoom. All I know is that AC-3 Dolby is optional for the SE versions:Ken Berry wrote:And Waxonwaxov, yes -- video pan and zoom is limited to VS 9 (and apparently only the full version of it).

Thanks, Ken, for the definition of Ripple editing. Does that mean you have VS9 now? If so are you finding it a bug filled challenge like some of the other posts are saying or are you planning to see a few fixes launched first? I'd like to hear your views/ experience because Ripple Editing together with video pan & zoom are something I'm looking forward to using.

I just reveiwed the VS9 manual (in pdf format downlaoded from ulead.com) and it says nothing about "video pan and zoom"
It only talks about pan and zoom for still images.
So does VS9 allow you to pan and zoom over a VIDEO clip (as opposed to a still image) or not?
The ONLY reson I'm considering upgrading to VS9 is to get VIDEO pan and zoom.
