Hi iosif77,
it sounds like VS may not have properly recognised your capture device.
What hardware are you using? Are you hooking up a MiniDV camcorder to your pc by a Firewire cable? Are you using a Firewire card in your pc, or are you connecting by some other method - eg USB?

US v11 Capture problem
I have a Sony TRV320 Digital Cam with same problem using UL VS v11. XP Pro system, fire wire, not a problem with v10.

UL VS v11 Capture error
I have also completed those steps. When the camera is attached (firewire) then turned on it is recognized but UL VS v11 is NOT a choice on the "what do you want windows to do" popup window. I reinstalled UL VS v10 and it IS an option to use. I have 2 500 GB drives with 4GB memory. Always worked with v10, the problem is with v11.

VS v11 Capture Problem
Any solution to this problem? It does not happen with v10, see prior post for setup and what has been completed to date.
Re: US v11 Capture problem
Since you have a normal system and are not trying to hook up an exotic device, I would suspect a corrupted VS11 install in your case.ynot_tman wrote:I have a Sony TRV320 Digital Cam with same problem using UL VS v11. XP Pro system, fire wire, not a problem with v10.
How did you install VS11?
If you installed from a download, say the TBYB version, try downloading it again and reinstalling it.
If you have the boxed version, you can attempt a repair of the install using the original discs.
Is everything else functioning in VS11?
Another check would be to try using Windows Movie Maker, which should be on your system since it's a part of XP, and see if that recognises your TRV320 and allows you to capture footage - but this is perhaps unnecessary since you report that you have no such problems with VS10.
When I connect my own camcorder by firewire, I only get an Autoplay XP pop-up dialogue box that asks "What do you want Windows to do?". There is no listing of my camcorder model, and no prompt to open VS - but the camcorder works OK with VS (though it's always had some minor issues which have been consistent from VS7 right thru to VS11+)
I presume you're not expecting the dialogue box to open VS11, and are going to the capture step to check to see if your camera is listed in the "source" box, normally situated to the left of the preview screen in the default layout.

2DOGS - Capture Problem
The installation was completed normally with CD and accepting the remove Version 10 option. Since then capture has not worked as in prior posts. I have reinstalled version 10 and applied the Power Pack and Patch Eng from Nov 8. Now when I connect the Sony via firewire and turn it on, the "what do you want windows to do" window opens with choices: "Record using Windows Movie Maker", "Capture using Roxio capture", "Capture using Ulead VideoStudio v10". If I select Ulead, the program starts and opens the main window. I can start V11 manually and the capture now works but something has changed. All prior versions I've used (7, 8, 9, 10) always showed up in the window. I haven't rendered anything yet.
Hi ynot_man,
well success, possibly. I hope you'll report back to say whether all other aspects of VS11 are working now.
On my own, now ageing desktop pc, I have configured my hardware profile to eke out the maximum performance. It's possible that the lack of Windows prompts in my case relates to Windows services that I've disabled.
I would think that the slight inconvenience of having to start VS11 first prior to capturing wouldn't be too significant, if it proves to be the case.
I also note that VS11, like Internet Explorer and some other programs, pre-loads itself when you boot up your pc. I'm not really keen on that. Although it appears to speed up the load time for VS11 when you open the program, it slows down your pc boot time. The honourable thing would be for Corel to highlight the feature and give users an easy choice to enable/disable it. It uses UVS11 Preload, which shows up in the task manager process list as uvPL.exe. As far as I know, this is a feature introduced with VS11. Maybbe it's just possible it's affecting the way the program behaves with the capture pop-up dialogue.
It's the default setting when you install VS, and, of course, I've disabled it! I'd rather not have programs consuming resources when I'm not using them!

Same Issue - Capture Graph in VS11 Plus
I'm getting the same error as the previous post - 'Cannot Start Capture Graph' when I start an import directly from my Panasonic PV-GS150 - I get the same error via Firewire or USB, whether I start the camera first or the software. I did not have this issue with UVS v10 Plus, and the capture works fine in Windows Movie Maker. I can use WMM to capture the video, then edit and write the video with UVS v11 Plus, but I should be able to use UVS 11 for capture, too. Capturing from my ATI TV Tuner seems to work fine.
I installed the software from CD, purchased directly from Corel.
Win Vista 32-bit
Dell E520 (Quad Core Q6600)
4GB RAM (3GB avail to system)
NVidia 7950GT (512MB)
250GB+500GB SATA HDDs

Cannot start capture graph with vista.
I had the same problem with vista and VS11+...cannot start capture graph. I tried deleting and then reinstalling but nothing worked. I then downloaded the trial version of another program and I was able to capture video so I knew the drivers were working. I then decided to not only delete VS11+, but also WinDVD8 that came with it and anything else listed as Intervideo. I then reinstalled VS11+ and now everything works as advertised. I don't know if this was a fluke, but when all else fails...
